STATUS: PERMANENT FULL-TIME
WORK SCHEDULE: WORK THREE (3) DAYS ONE WEEK AND FOUR (4) DAYS THE NEXT WEEK. OFF EVERY OTHER SATURDAY, SUNDAY, MONDAY.
PAY RATE: $12.50 PER HOUR. PAY RATE INCREASES TO $13.13 AFTER SIX (6) MONTHS PROBATION.

Must be at least 21 years of age, Must not have any felony or serious misdemeanor convictions (nor under indictment for such), Must be able to pass drug screens, Must pass intensive background check, Must have High School diploma or GED, Must possess a Valid KY Driver’s License, Must have a good driving record, Must be physically able to walk, bend , lift and stand for 12 hour shifts, Must be able to physically perform the duties of Deputy Jailer, Must be bondable, Must be able to work any shift and Overtime as may be required.
Characteristics of the Class
Under general direction of the Jailer, performs duties and responsibilities necessary for the custody and care of prisoners in the county jail. Performs related work as required.

Under direction of the Jailer, performs duties and responsibilities necessary for proper operation of the county jail. Ensures departmental policies, procedures, rules and regulations contained in the Jail Facility Policy and Procedures Manual are properly implemented. Participates in the admittance of prisoners. Performs inspections to ensure the safety and security of prisoners. Performs tasks necessary for the cleanliness and proper maintenance of jail facilities. Supervises prisoner activities including, but not limited to, recreation, educational classes, religious meetings, and visitations. Transports prisoners as required. Maintains necessary working knowledge of all state laws, county ordinances, official opinions and guidelines, which impact the operation of the county jail. Maintains accurate and complete records pertaining to all jail operations. Prepares necessary documentation, memoranda and reports on all activities. Collects all fees and makes appropriate disposition of funds. Participates in required annual training developed by the Department of Corrections, Division of Corrections Training. Perform related duties as assigned.
